Thank you Styx and Rock to the Rescue!
On Friday, October 5th, Suicide Prevention Network was the grateful recipient of a donation from the rock band Styx – through their organization Rock to the Rescue - who were performing at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. Kevin Compton, spokesperson for the organization, chose Suicide Prevention Network as the local non-profit to benefit from their visit to Tahoe.
Rock to the Rescue is a nonprofit founded in 2001 by rock bands Styx and REO Speedwagon in an effort to provide support to families of 9/11 victims. Realizing the power of these efforts, Styx and REO went on to play shows to benefit additional causes such as music education for children and continued to engage in charitable giving in communities around the country. In 2012, Styx took Rock to the Rescue to the road full-time in an effort to provide support to every community in which they perform.
Their mission is to build strong, healthy communities through the support of grassroots causes across the country and Suicide Prevention Network is honored to have been chosen as an organization that will be able to continue that effort.
